Hearken, traveler, and heed this warning ere thou dost enter these woods.
Long hath the Dark Forest stood, a heavy tangle of ancient trees where sunlight scarce doth reach the ground. Here in Iron Haven, the old world hath fallen to ruin, and only the hardy or the foolish dare tread these paths.
By day the forest is thick with peril. Savages roam the underbrush, feral and without mercy, striking down any who wander unarmed. The Kings Guard patrol what remains of the old strongholds, watching over hoards of loot with blade and bow, and shall not yield their treasure without a fight.
By night, the true horror doth stir. The cursed rise from the dark and wander the forest floor, and their touch carries a foul affliction. One bite, one scratch, and the sickness may take hold of thee, turning flesh to rot before thy very eyes. Steer clear of them when the moon is high, lest ye join their ranks.
Even sustenance offers no safe haven. The land is poisoned and the meat oft carries plague, for even food well cooked upon the fire may yet bear a virus within it. Eat with caution, for hunger may be the least of thy worries.
These are rough times, friend. Gather what allies ye can, arm thyself well, and trust little in this cursed land. Fires shall keep the dark at bay, but only strength and cunning shall keep thee alive.
Enter Iron Haven. Survive the Dark Forest. Few do.
